On August 13, 2022, we reinstated our traditional Instrument Presentation Event following a hiatus during the pandemic. During a formal ceremony at The Robert and Judi Newman Center for the Performing Arts, we awarded 684 instruments to 45 schools.

Two Quaver Notes

Instrument Presentation Event – 2022 School Year

  • Does learning to play an instrument have benefits for everyone?
Beyond music, students develop teamwork, critical thinking, self-discipline, and confidence. They become stronger learners and more creative, compassionate individuals.
  • How are schools selected?
Schools in need can apply through our online application process. We work hard to meet as many requests as possible. Click here for the online application form.
  • What instruments are needed?
We welcome all band and orchestra instruments in good condition, except upright pianos and organs. Typically, the instruments in highest demand include baritone horns, baritone saxophones, cellos, double basses, tenor saxophones, tubas, and violas. With the help of our donors, we are able to meet those needs!
  • My instrument needs repairs. Can I still donate it?
Yes. Almost all instruments require some work. Our repair partners restore them at a greatly reduced cost to ensure they’re in the best, playable condition when schools receive them.
  • Is my donation tax-deductible?
Yes. After we receive and repair your instrument, we’ll send a thank you letter for tax purposes. Your donation, with a value determined by you, will be tax deductible to the extent allowed by the law.
  • Who receives the instruments?
Most are awarded to Title I Colorado schools with underfunded music programs. Since the program’s inception, we’ve provided 8,700 instruments to more than 330 Colorado schools, impacting 20,000 students. For an updated list of schools that have received instruments, click here.
  • How can I help if I don’t have an instrument to donate?
You can provide a financial gift to help cover the cost of repairs—our single greatest expense. Click here to learn more. Bringing Music to Life is a project of the Colorado Nonprofit Development Center.
  • I missed this year’s Instrument Donation Drive, can I still donate my instrument?
Yes, Rocky Mountain Music Repair will accept donations for Bringing Music to Life. They are open from 10AM - 6PM Monday through Friday at 2150 W. 6th Ave, Unit E in Broomfield.
